Congratulations to all the McDonalds boys on their successful campaign to be Madera city champs! Thank you to all who have supported us throughout this season. We had tough playoff games versus round table and Creamer tile. Those games toughened up our boys and readied them to knock off defending champs Papa Murphy’s. The boys then played their hearts out at river park, but came up short 6-5 in toc. They played great in every aspect of the game, and every one contributed in some way. Bret Carrell tagged along and helped out by pitching our whiffle ball warm ups, then rooted for us all the way. Coach Meyers , Burns, and Martinez had these boys ready and playing in championship form. Tower, Toro, and Ewok pitched lights out all year. They also combined for 12 home runs. Gort, Muddy, Sharky, Rayban, and Hansel, came through all season long in tough situations with the bats and the gloves. Our youngest guys Boon, Sureye, Mumble and Lojack all show the signs of bright futures. Congratulations to Tower Chavira on his land slide player of the year award! You parents should be proud. Coaching these kids is like having a large family! And you know in any family there will be hiccups along the way. We managed to overcome the hiccups and every one of these boys are great kids and Ive been privileged to coach them. Congratulations to all of the young men who made all stars, and to their respective coaching staffs

MADERA NATIONAL Little League Majors Kiwanis four first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 6-1 win over Ciummo & Assoc. on Monday at Field #1.

W. Dawson put together a nice outing. Dawson held Ciummo & Assoc. hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

K. Gomez got the win for Kiwanis. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered two hits.

There have been many questions recently about the format for the divisions in the league this season, and the reasons for these changes.  There will be more details discussed as we move through the season, but we thought we would try to remove some of the mystery with a quick recap.  There has been several seasons of discussion and research involved in these decisions.  Nothing has been done without much deliberation.  Each division has a role that fits the age groups and skill levels they serve, with multiple divisions for players of varying skill levels.

AA - 7 & 8 year olds. Coach Pitch division. No new inning after 75 minutes. Players learn fundamentals of baseball hitting a baseball thrown by their own coach. This division has no walks, no stealing, continuous batting order, no player sits out of play for more than 3 consecutive defensive outs. Adults only allowed to base coach. 3 run rule for first 3 innings, open to 5 runs from 4th inning on. City Championship

ROOKIE (NEW) - 8, 9, & 10 year olds. Player pitch division, with no walks. No new inning after 90 minutes. Coach will pitch if player pitcher throws 4 balls, until player puts the ball in play or strikes out.  Players learn the fundamentals of baseball, with pitches thrown by opposing player.  Like AA division play moves quickly, without continuous walks slowing down play.  Players gain confidence from facing a player pitcher and also learn skills required of pitchers and catchers in addition this division has no walks, no stealing, continuous batting order, no player sits out of play for more than 3 consecutive defensive outs, and 3 run rule for first 3 innings, open to 5 runs from 4th inning on. Players 9 & 10 eligible to move up to AAA to fill vacancies. No City Championship

AAA (MODIFIED) - 9, 10, & 11 year olds. Player pitch division. No new inning after 100 minutes. Competitive Minor division.  Mostly Major division rules with modifications for continuous batting order, and 5 run limit throughout entire game. Players 10 & 11 eligible to move up to Major division to fill vacancies. 9 & 10 year olds elgible for selection to 9 & 10 year old All-Star team. City Championship

MAJORS - 10, 11, & 12 year olds (no 9 year olds starting this season).  Player pitch, competitive Major division. No  No run restrictions. All players eligible for All-Star selection to the respective aged team. City Championship.

INTERMEDIATE 50/70 (NEW) - 13 year olds.  Play is on larger field with 50 foot pitching distance, and 70 foot base distance. Can use larger bats. Play will be on Sundays with some travel required agains other teams in District. Games will be in Madera, Riverpark, and Selma. Both Madera National and Madera American league players eligible to participate. Potential for All-Star selection. No City Championship.
